Know Before You Go - Retreat Information

A quick note before we begin: Drala Mountain Center is your best source for the most current travel and logistics details. We point you to their pages throughout, and you'll also receive a Welcome Letter from Drala with everything specific to your stay. Please watch for it.

Getting There

Drala Mountain Center
151 Shambhala Way, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545

Drala is about:

  • 2 hours from Denver
  • 2 hours from Boulder
  • 45 minutes from Fort Collins

Driving yourself? Drala provides step-by-step directions and a map.
→ Drala Driving Directions & Map

A tip for the road: arrive with at least a half tank of gas, and fill up in Fort Collins before the final stretch.

From the Airport

Most travelers fly into Denver International Airport (DIA), about 2 hours away. Here are your main options for the last leg. For current pricing and details on all of them, Drala keeps an up-to-date travel page — always check there first, as options and prices change.
→ Traveling to Drala Mountain Center

The budget-friendly route (recommended):

Take the Groome Shuttle from DIA to the Harmony Transfer Center in Fort Collins ($29 per person), then an Uber, Lyft or Taxi the rest of the way to Drala. (disclaimer! We don't know what that final leg cost will be, it's a 45 min - 1 hour ride). Book the Groome shuttle in advance — they don't usually take same-day reservations.

Rent a car:

All major rental agencies operate out of DIA. A car gives you the freedom to come and go, and makes carpooling easy.

Local drivers:

Drala has connected with a few local drivers who offer rides to and from the center (good for 1–2 people). You'll find their current contact info on Drala's travel page.

Drala's airport shuttle:

Drala sometimes runs a roundtrip shuttle from DIA, but it requires a minimum number of riders and may not run for our dates. If you're interested, check with Drala early, and don't count on it until it's confirmed.

Ride Sharing & Carpooling

Sharing a ride is one of the nicest ways to arrive.

Two ways to coordinate:

  • Our WhatsApp group — post your arrival time and travel plans, and connect with others coming the same day. Join the WhatsApp group
  • Drala's Rideshare page — a board for connecting with others heading to the center. Drala Rideshare

When You Arrive

Check-in is between 2:00 and 5:00 pm.

When you drive in, follow the signs to the check-in building. The staff there will get you checked in, show you where your accommodations are, tell you where to park, and hand you a campus map to help you find Sacred Studies Hall, where we'll gather.

A handy tip: before you park, you're welcome to drop your harmonium, any other instruments, and your yoga mat (if you brought your own) at Sacred Studies Hall. That way you won't have to carry everything from your room to the hall later.

Arriving late, or outside the 2–5 pm window? No problem. Your keys will be waiting in an envelope at the check-in lodge. If you already know you'll be arriving late, please email the front desk ahead of time so they're expecting you: frontdesk@dralamountain.org

And again, keep an eye out for your Welcome Letter from Drala, which will have the full logistics for your stay.

Your Last Day

For everyone, our retreat closes on Friday, August 14. Our final session together is a farewell lunch from 12:30–1:30 pm.

You'll pack up your room earlier that morning — Drala will let you know the exact check-out time. Most people leave the center during or right after lunch.

Planning your departure: when booking your travel home, allow time to reach the airport after lunch (Drala is about 2 hours from Denver). If you have an early or tight flight, plan accordingly.

What to Bring

Your music binder — everyone needs one

Returning participants: please bring your 2025 binder back with you. We'll provide additional 3-hole-punched pages to add to it. If you no longer have your binder, or don't have room to pack it, email us ASAP at support@sacredsoundlab.com so we can have one ready for you.

First-time participants: no need to prepare anything — you'll receive your music binder from us when you arrive.

Good to Know

Weather & altitude: Red Feather Lakes sits at 7,500–8,000 feet. Days are warm, evenings cool, so pack layers. If you're not used to high altitude, the single most helpful thing is to hydrate well. (More on altitude in the FAQs below.)

Meals: All meals are provided at Drala.

Coffee: Yes, coffee will be available.

Alcohol: Drala is an alcohol-free center; no alcohol is served.
